Amazing June

I think everybody is entitled to a few proud moments in their life, right? I mean their is your wedding day, all your childrens firsts, job promotions and what not, but I have another one to share. I know I have spoken of these beloved people to some of you before and can't help but feel my heart swell at the fact that they brought and still bring so much fun and joy to children and even us still today. My Grandparents Ray and June A.K.A. Bampa and Grandmommy to us grand kids, were involved in some of the first cartoon animations that we still watch today. Recently Grandmommy (June) was interviewed for the magazine "Vanity fare" . It was all about the "women behind the men" in Walt Disney's animation studio. I always understood that it was hard tedious work and all but my goodness! I was exhausted just after reading the article! So many young women painted countless cartoon cells from literally "sun up to sun down" as one woman was quoted saying. Some even fainted from sleepiness and longed for the "Snow White" movie to just be done already. And if some of you are wondering if the women in or around Hollywood really did dress as cute and glamerous as they appear in the black and white movies...yes they did. Every single picture I have seen of Grandmommy, even while holding a baby, she looked fabulous!

I am glad that those women like my grandmother were not forgotten and I will never watch another old Disney movie the same, I will pay attention to every little detail that was carefully created by the hard working women who sat so many hours behind a desk just to make us a love story and fairy tale.

I love you Grandmommy and of course Bampa too, behind every strong man is a supportive and hard working woman:)

The Bookie And Nugi

Something I have been meaning to blog about lately. The Bookie and the Nugi. These are two of Korban's very treasured things. Every child eventually develops a name for the pacifier and blanket AKA the Bookie and the Nugi. I can't quite remember when he actually started calling them those specific names but they stuck, and so that is what they are. Bookie derived from mom's term of Binky and nugi derived from mom's term of snugly. I think it's adorable even though some parents out there might poo poo the whole thing. There is nothing wrong with having a corking device when a child is getting restless in the store or a soft and cuddly snugly to rest his little head on when he is tired and falling asleep in the cart. That is the first part of my case. The second.....if he had chosen to suck a thumb or any of his other adorable little fingers, I can't ever take those away! I didn't want that to happen but as every other little boy, he is growing up, starting to potty train, and doing all sorts of wonderful little boy things and eventually the bookie and nugi will have to mysteriously disappear. Do you remember your favorite thing as a toddler? I had a blanket once and I don't miss it. All that's left of it now is a tiny satin corner that I used to scratch with my fingers. But to this day, now don't laugh, if I have a blanket on the bed with satin trim, I will still scratch it with my fingers the same way I did when I was a little girl. Weird I know.

Peanut

Well here He or She is folks. This was our first ultrasound that we had done a few weeks ago which puts me at about 12 weeks along now and beginning to show too! I know it looks like a blurry little blob but I think it is the cutest little peanut ever especially when I witnessed it wiggling around so much it looked like dancing. It is just a miracle to me that at nine weeks you can see little arm nubs and legs all curled up just waiting to kick me in the tummy some day soon.
My midwife has determined the due date to be August 4Th. August 4Th! I am so not prepared for what a hot summer it is going to be! Praise God we have a pool where I can float aimlessly about to relive the not too anticipated elephant ankles.

I don't know if any of you out there have had the wonderful stomach bug going around lately, you know the one where even an ice chip won't stay down? If you haven't then consider yourself oh so blessed. Me on the other hand....not so happy this last weekend. It hit me like a ton of bricks! I was sleeping just fine after a wonderful outing to the movies and dinner with some friends of ours and wamo...puke city. This is new to me during a pregnancy. I never had morning sickness with Korban and I have not had any problems yet with this one, but I knew it was not morning sickness. After a full day Saturday of putting up with the horrible reoccurring yukiness, we were advised to go to the emergency room to get checked out. Two IVs, one dose of anti nausea medicine and an hour nap later we went home. Cursed for a day with sickness but blessed our little peanut was way o.k. We Even got to see our little baby on a sonogram pretty close to its face. Let me just say this is one cute little baby...oh my I can't wait to see him or her in person. I mean I could see the eyes and nose and little lips! Too cute.
We are all well and rested now feeling pretty much back to normal and praying this does not happen again EVER.
And let me just give a shout out to my man who took such good care of me and Korban....your awesome!

Hey Baby!

Well break out the maternity clothes and put away the skinny jeans....this little mama is having another baby! Woohoooo! That's how I felt when the test, two tests, came up positive. We couldn't be more thrilled at the wonderful little bundle that will come into this family in...August? An ultrasound on the 29th should give us a better estimation but August is my guess.

I had to keep it a secret for one night from Josh because I wanted to try a different test to be sure. I could hardly sleep that night and scurried about the next day to find a "Big Brother"

T-shirt for Korban to ware when Josh walked in the door from work. Apparently those shirts do not exist at Target or Babies R Us so my search ended. Thankfully A white t-shirt and some sharpies saved the day and we made our own, (wish I had thought of it sooner and saved the trip). Needless to say the look on Josh's face was priceless and Korban was just happy to see him home. Even more priceless was the Grandma's reaction to the whole thing. I think I may need permission to post those videos on here but they were pretty funny. Hopefully the next post will include an ultrasound picture of the new Steinberg baby. Before its too late

So I know that November has come and gone already but I have to share these photos from Utah. I know your probably thinking "Do these people ever slow down?" We did a lot of traveling last month and though bits of it are exhausting I never regret a single moment. We drove to Utah after being home only a week since returning from our previous trip to visit family in other places. But now that all the laundry is caught up and this is the first week since we have been home that there is not a ton of stuff going on, I feel like I can Finlay sit down and do something fun like Blog!

Things tend to get a little crazy in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day...Naomi is the only sane one:)

My mom had made some matching Jammie's for the little ones and Makenna who just adores Korban planted a smooch on his tired little face.

The Day after Thanksgiving we went to Brian head and had fun in the snow. Well at least most of us did. I don't think Korban was too thrilled with the sledding.

All in all we had a blessed time and look forward to it again next year. Thanks Dad and Mom for everything!

I would have strategically placed these photos but it takes forever here and the computer is ornery. We are having a blessed time and are looking forward to Seattle on Tuesday. But to follow in a few of my fellow bloggers footsteps I need to jot down the things that Korban is trying to say these days. I don't know if it is the change of scenery or the tropical breeze but he is quite talkative and willing to give new words a shot.

Baby Monkeys Invade Hawaii

Hello to all and Aloha! We are in Kona Hawaii yet again for a little R n R...The last time Korban can fly for free! We left home on the 27th and flew into Seattle for an over night layover and a much anticipated visit to see Mary, Paul and their new little bundle of cuteness, Samantha. Paul and Mary, parenthood suits you well. It was so sweet to see you guys as a mom and dad and so in love with your new found joy:)

I love love love the fall weather in Seattle! The only other place That I have seen trees so beautiful Is on the East Coast. I am looking forward to spending the last 4 days of our trip there with Paul, Mary and Samantha.

Well we went from Cold and damp to warm and humid. Fall weather and blankets to swim suits and sand. We spent our first day at snorkel beach and went out for a huge Hawaiian snow cone afterwards...I think this is becoming tradition. However I think last time we got the medium cone because I don't remember it being so gargantuan!

Solid Rock Ministries is our favorite church in Kona and they were putting on a Candy Land Adventure by the old Kona airport. It was so much fun and the staff and willing servants put on such a fun and friendly event. We couldn't help it...we had to buy Korban the cutest little monkey outfit ever.
